Ladli Lakshmi Yojana
Ladli Lakshmi Yojana is a financial assistance plan designed specifically for girl children in Madhya Pradesh by the state government. It is a financial aid plan to fund the education and marriage of the state’s girl children and support them during their education. The plan aims towards the overall development of the girl child. The plan was launched in May of 2007. This is a child insurance plan which was launched for girl children who belong to a low-income family and can not afford quality education or marriage expenses.
The Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched by then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan and is currently functional in states of U.P, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Goa, and Chattisgarh. The scheme benefits all girl children born after 1st January 2006 who fall under the non-tax paying bracket and are female orphans.
What are the Key Objectives of Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
The scheme’s primary goal is to give school and marriage expenditure coverage. However, other goals were in mind when the plan was launched.

Eligibility Criteria for Ladli Laxmi Yojana
To avail of the Ladli Laxmi Yojana scheme there are certain eligibility criteria set up by the government which are as follows:
- The Girl child should be born on or after January 1, 2006.
- Families who wish to avail of the scheme must make sure that their girl child is registered in the local Anganwadi center.
- The parents of the girl child should be natives of Madhya Pradesh, or the native of the state where they are applying for the given scheme.
- Families are eligible for the scheme who have less than two or two children. Family planning must be adopted after the birth of a second child.
- Under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana scheme, the girl child born from the first delivery will be given benefits without family planning. However, it is necessary for the mother/father to adopt family planning in order to avail the benefit of the girl child born from the second delivery.
Special Eligibility Conditions for Ladli Laxmi Yojna
There are certain special conditions applicable to avail of Ladli Laxmi Yojana explained below:
- In case of the demise of one parent either mother or father in a family with two girl children, registration can be done till the girl child is 05 years old.
- In the case of the birth of 3 girl children in the first delivery, Ladli Laxmi Yojna will be applicable for all three girl children.
- Girls born to female inmates in a prison are also eligible for Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
- The benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojna is applicable to a girl child born to a rape victim.
Benefits of Ladli Laxmi Yojana
There are multiple benefits associated with Ladli Laxmi Yojana as it offers a scope for a brighter future for girl children.
- Under this scheme, the girl child receives an Assurance Certificate Of INR 1,18,000/- which is issued by the government in the name of the girl child.
- INR 2,000 is offered to the girl child covered under the scheme on her admission in class 6th.
- INR 4,000 is offered to the girl child covered under the scheme on her admission in class 9th.
- INR 6,000 is offered to the girl child covered under the scheme on her admission in class 11th.
- INR 6,000 is offered to the girl child covered under the scheme on her admission in class 12th.
- Under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana girl children are provided with an incentive amount of INR 25,000 in 2 equal installments In the first And last year Of the course after taking admission in any graduate course.
- The tuition fee for higher education will be borne by the government.
- The final payment of INR 1 Lac will be done on completion of 21 years of age of the girl child.
What are the Exclusions of Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
There are certain limitations to the Ladli Laxmi Yojana Policy and they are mentioned below:
- In case the girl child has stopped her formal education or dropped out of school the scheme will no longer be applicable.
- In case the girl child is married before the legal age that is 18 years of age the scheme will not be applicable.
- In case of family planning options not opted by parents after the birth of the second child the scheme will not be applicable.
